Barista Esmée
My name is Esmée Jongejans. Since my early teens, I knew I would become an entrepreneur in the hospitality industry. I studied hotel and event management and gained experience in various hotels and cafes. However, the turning point didn’t come until 2020, when I ended up at home with burnout. What do I really want in life? What brings me the most joy?
I knew the answer for sure: a hospitality business of my own. I trained as an SCA professional barista at Back to Black Coffee in Amsterdam. My goal was to open my own coffee bar where people could find a second home, or a “third space.” And that meant serving quality Specialty Coffee, local products, and minimizing waste. These are the values I still uphold daily at Community Square. I have made my dream come true and am still proud of it every day.
Collaborations
At Community Square, we enjoy collaborating with local (small) entrepreneurs. For instance, we source our cheese from our neighbors KOST kaas en delicatessen, our kimchi is made by Kimchi meid, and we buy our coffee beans from Dutch roasteries. Our main supplier is Back to Black coffee, but we also put a new roastery in the spotlight every few months. We have already worked with NOOC coffee, Mellow coffee roasters, Rum baba coffee roasters, and Manhattan coffee roasters.
Organizing an event or renting a space?
We enjoy organizing events with local entrepreneurs and organizations. For example, our successful Pizza Party with our resident vinyl DJs Kappi & Bober and Pizza Lokaal with their freshest baked sourdough pizzas made with local ingredients.
Community Square is located in the Foundation We Are premises, where an event space is also available for rent. Please contact them (events@foundationweare.org) to rent a space. In consultation with Foundation We Are, Community Square is available for catering during your event.

When you talk about Strijp-S, you also talk about Community Square. If you are looking for a quiet vibe, with your bestie or just some 'me-time' with a newspaper, then this is truly the perfect place. My go-to is a large cappuccino with her homemade banana cake. I also often come with my dog-sitting dog. A Golden Retriever (with ADHD). And he loves it. Dog-friendly place. He gets spoiled with dog cookies and always gets a bowl of fresh water. The owner, together with her colleague, really gives you a home feeling!

The best coffee (and matcha) in Eindhoven if you ask me! The coffee is really of incredibly good quality. In many places in Eindhoven, you pay way too much for mediocre coffee... but that is not the case here! Affordable and top quality. The staff is friendly and possesses great barista skills and knowledge. My go-to order: iced matcha with coconut milk and a little bit of vanilla syrup!!! Or a flat white with oat milk.
Really delicious coffee! And other refreshing drinks, like a wide selection of kombuca. A really nice little place, not super spacious, which actually makes it cozy. They also have spots where you can work comfortably, and the owner is very friendly. Highly recommended!
Nice spot on Strijp-S with good coffee. And a small but good food menu. Very nice owner who is crazy about dogs (so dogs are welcome😉)
